I was invited by a friend of mine who happens to be in the Design field as I am close to graduating in. The Pick & Mix Market is an exhibition in Cobalt Studios, next to the Ernest Coffee & Bar near Manors & Byker in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It’s a collaborative effort and curated between artists, designers, illustrators and hand crafters.
Mind you, the place is full of stripy arrows to guide you. Even going in the entrance gives you a short tour since it takes places upstairs in this incomplete space with potential 12 or more studios to be in.
Dive in there and you’re met with a variety of items of craftsmanship, despite the rather low-lighting set up by some lights enough for you to see, you’re still greeted by the colours and some of the shimmering lights, this is certainly a ‘pick and mix’ for artists and designers out there, and I’m from a CompSci and Interaction Design background.
I interfered with the photos as less as possible. No filters, no process.
P.S. I didn’t want to leave empty-handed, so I bought a ‘limited edition’ screen print and a card from my friend who invited me to the exhibition since I was able to catch him and bought one of his lovely cards.
